Mounted Parade 1923

The dating of this photo places the 5th DG in Egypt in which country they were posted at the time of their amalgamation, in 1922, with the 6th Dragoons. They appear to have Inniskilling castle badges on the collar of their khaki service dress but photos of bandsmen in 1825 and 1827 show them to be wearing the 5DG badge. They have the cavalry sword that was introduced in 1912, and the standard Lee-Enfield .303 rifle in a leather holster. The horses all look in excellent condition and they are maintaining a well controlled line.
