11th Bengal Lancers (Probyn's Horse)

Officer's Indian Full Dress

An exhibit in the National Army Museum showing the blue kurta embroidered with gold. The collar is of scarlet cloth but the cuffs are blue with elaborate embroidery. The shoulders are also well decorated and have the distinctive chain shoulder piece. The pouchbelt is the same as worn in Lancer full dress. The waistbelt is worn over the scarlet embroidered kummerbund which is shown here with the end hanging on the wrong side. The turban or pagri is not done properly here, but the colours show clearly as being blue, black and gold.
