Risaldar Muhammed Aslam Khan, 1911


His family connection with the regiment stretched back to 1861 when his granfather was a Ressaldar in the Sikh Irregular Cavalry. He entered the regiment in 1889 and became a jemadar in 1896, rising to Risaldar in 1903. His uncle was his immediate superior, Risaldar-Major Mahommed Akram Khan. He was the favourite riding companion of Colonel Birdwood on early morning rides and helped him learn the language. He accompanied his uncle to London in 1911. He became Risaldar-Major himelf later on. His medals show how much active service he saw: North-West Frontier 1891 with clasp,Chitral 1895 and North-West Frontier 1897-8 with 3 clasps, South Africa 1900-2 with 3 clasps and Tibet 1903-4.
