Falkland Islands Defence Force Mounted

This is a very interesting picture showing the Falkland Islands Defence Force mounted on horses and apparently ready for action. World War One certainly did impinge on the islands as the German Pacific fleet sailed close by before being engaged by the British. There was also the possibility, although a small one, of Argentina taking advantage of Britain's preoccupation with war in Europe. This photograph was generously donated by Dean Street
