Shipping in Stanley, 1907

This postcard from 1907 gives a clue just to how busy a port Stanley was at the beginning of the Twentieth Century. The sheer volume of ships of all sizes and shapes shows just how plugged in the economy was to the wider world and the role that it played as a haven for ships and sailors in what could be the very rough seas of the South Atlantic.
