50th Kumaon Rifles

Rifles Forage Cap Badge

Rifles Forage Cap Badge

The stringed bugle was the symbol for Light Infantry and Rifle Regiments. The Kumaon Rifles was raised during World War One so this silver badge on a coiled green cord backing was worn on the khaki service dress forage cap. The number 50 was allotted to the regiment as it was vacant following the re-numbering of 1903. Another version of the badge post-1923 was the stringed bugle with KR above.
