Prince Philip, the Colonel-in-Chief of the newly formed Queen’s Own Highlander (Seaforth and Camerons), and formerly Colonel-in-Chief of the QO Cameron Highlanders, inspects the men who wear No.2 Dress. The men's jackets are khaki and have a rounded off skirt at the front to show the sporran. The rank and file and the NCOs wear a white plastic belt with rectangular clasp while officers wear the brown leather Sam Browne belt. The kilts of all ranks, including Prince Philip are in the sett of MacKenzie, the former tartan of the Seaforths. The headdress is no longer the blue bonnet TOS but the blue glengarry with blue hackle as worn by the Cameron Highlanders. The cap badge however, is the Highland Brigade badge which was worn from 1961 to 1970.
The Commanding Officer, Lt-Colonel W G McHardy, also in No.2 Dress, accompanies Prince Philip who wears No.1 Dress. The occasion was the presentation of new Colours at Holyroodhouse on 21 May 1964. The Colonel-in-Chief wears a green jacket which at that time had small collar badges of the Elephant of Assaye. He has the kilt and hose of the Seaforths but the glengarry and blue hackle of the Camerons. All ranks have the white sporran which was changed a few years later to a goat hair sporran.
