In this detail a Jemadar (junior Indian officer) stands on the right, in khaki service dress. He has a black leather Sam Browne belt instead of the pouch-belt with whistle and chain. Next to him is a sepoy in marching order wearing the 1882 valise equipment with black leather straps and valise or folded blanket kept high on his back. He does not have the regimental number on his cap. Another officer in service dress stands the other side of him, half hidden by a man in dress uniform whose shoulder strap shows a bronze number 44. The short Gurkha on the left shows the percussion lock on his Snider Enfield Rifle.
