13th Dragoons

Dragoon 1742

The earliest comprehensive coverage of uniforms in the British Army was the 1742 'Cloathing' book. This is a painting by R. Simkin based on the print of the 13th Dragoons in the book. He has changed the colour of the Shabracque from buff to green as in every other case the shabracque matches the facings on the soldier's coat. This is the uniform worn during the 2nd Jacobite rebellion in 1745.
