Officer in Stable Dress, c1895

Illustration by E A Campbell from a photograph of Major C Von Essen Moberly. The stable jacket is very short and worn over crimson breeches. The sword/sabretache belt is hidden beneath the jacket. The sabretache was the plain black undress type. The artist has added the badges of rank to the shoulder cord but they are not apparent in the original photo, nor are they to be seen on the actual jacket. see Officer in stable dress The pillbox cap is of crimson cloth with gold lace headband.
