Constable at Regina 1893

Painting by Frederic Remington. The pillbox cap was unsuitable for working in bright sun but The pillbox cap for other ranks had a yellow cap band and yellow braiding on the top. This constable wears the same as the Remington Constable 1887 except for the lack of an ammunition bandolier. The American style saddle has a peculiar saddle cloth with reinforced leather corners and flanks. The wooden stirrups were preferable to metel ones that were dangerous to touch in freezing conditions.
