15th Bengal Infantry

Officer, 1897

This painting by the late Chater Paul Chater is probably based on a photo of Sardar Ram Singh, although he has one less medal. The recognisable medals are Egypt, Indian General Service, and the Khedive's Star. The one with bars is probably for Afghanistan. The turbans for officers were red and gold whereas the sepoys and Havaldirs had red and yellow.
