Regimental Guidon 1798

The Regimental Guidon of the 14th was altered in 1776 to incorporate the change from dragoons to light dragoons. It remained yellow which was their facings colour. In 1798 the facings were changed to orange when they became the Duchess of York's Own Light Dragoons. They also acquired the badge of the Prussian Eagle. Which was placed in the centre, surrounded by the title and the Duchess's coronet above. A painting of an officer of the 14th carrying this guidon in 1816 does not show any battle honours but by that date PENINSULA would have been emblazoned.
