Archibald George Seymour


Archibald George Seymour was born on 21 Sep 1875. He was the son of Sir George Evelyn Seymour and Evelyn Elizabeth Campbell. and was commissioned on 25 Mar 1896 as a Second Lieutenant, the rank he holds in this photo. He reached the rank of lieutenant-colonel in the Greys and fought in World War 1. He was awarded the DSO in 1917 and served in the 10th Hussars in the rank of Colonel. He was decorated with the MVO 4th Class in 1921 and was given the honorary rank of Brigadier in 1924. On 30 April 1907 he married Ellen Mary Bucknall. They had 3 children although their first child died at the age of 6 months. Brigadier Seymour died on 30 Dec 1933. The photo was taken in 1898 and shows him in a frockcoat, the undress uniform of the Scots Greys.
