2nd Lieutenant Hon William McClintock-Bunbury


The Hon William was born on 15 Sep 1878, the son of Thomas Kane McClintock-Bunbury, 2nd Baron Rathdonnell, who was also an officer in the Scots Greys. His uncle, John William McClintock Bunbury also served in the Greys in the 1870s. He was educated at Eton and commissioned into the Greys on 4 Jan 1899. Unfortunately he was one of the early casualties of the Boer War. The Greys fought an action at Dronfield on 16 Feb 1900 in which 3 privates were killed and 7 men were wounded including 2nd Lieutenant Hon William McClintock-Bunbury. He died of his wounds the next day, 17 Feb 1900.
