The Royal Irish Regiment

Schellenberg

The tapesteries at Blenheim Palace depict with great detail the campaign waged by the Duke of Marlborough. This amazing scene, created with embroidery is of the battle of Schellenberg. The city of Donauworth is in the centre background and the hill of Schellenberg is on the left. The Duke is in the foreground in a red coat. The scene is framed with images of the booty gained from the victory which included the flags and weapons of the enemy as well as hordes of gold and valuables.
