Colonel Barklie McCalmont


Barklie McCalmont served as an officer in the 6th Foot but retired as a Captain in 1888. He was a reserve officer up until 1899 when he was appointed Commanding officer of the 5th Militia Battalion. The battalion went out to South Africa with 740 men and, nearly half of whom had already served in the war and some had served 2 tours of duty. The photo was published in 1902.
