The buttons worn by the Warwickshire Yeomanry in the period from 1833 to 1856 had WY in a distinctive gothic, or Old English, typeface topped by a Victorian crown. All ranks had similar buttons but the officers' were silver plated. This example has crown and letters worn down so that the brass metal shows through. The back view reveals the name of the manufacturer: Jennens & Co of London. |
