The Yeomanry

Senior NCOs and Officer c1905

Three NCOs are in khaki service dress standing behind Lieutenant Richardson. The stout man on the left is the Quartermaster, with four inverted chevrons and a star badge. His cuffs are decorated with a silver trefoil design. The peaked forage cap was introduced in 1905 and at first had no badge on the front. The Squadron Sergeant-Major next to him has four stripes with a crown above. The sergeants on either end have the blue serge frock tunics with white collar and white shoulder cords. There are no stripes on the trousers. The pillbox cap is still in use after other regiments discarded it c1902, and the sergeant on the left wears the blue and white field service cap. The officer has the blue and white forage cap with silver bear badge. His serge frock is the early pattern with silver olivet buttons down the front and he has shoulder chains. His trousers also have no white stripes.
