The Yeomanry

Corporal c1910

The close-up view of the other ranks' uniform shows the trefoil braiding on the collar made up of the same white cord used to decorate the front of the tunic and trace the edge of the collar, and form the Austrian knot device on the cuffs. It is clear from this photo that no buttons were placed on the drop loops at the ends of the chest decoration. He has crossed flags on his sleeve indicating that he is a signaller, and on his right arm are the silver lace corporal's chevrons on a white cloth backing. The white cord caplines are plaited at the end. This way of wearing them was adopted by the officers in 1893 but the other ranks did not have this until c1909.
