The Yeomanry

Colonel and Warrant Officers c1912

Lieutenant-Colonel Frank Dugdale sits in the middle of this group. The padre sits on the right and three other officers pose stiffly for the camera. Captain Valentine of future Huj fame sits on the CO's right hand, wearing the blue serge frock with silver olivet buttons. The officer between the padre and the CO seems to have the version of this tunic with round silver buttons. All of them wear the blue and white forage cap. The Warrant Officers have a blue top to their caps, introduced c1909, although the upper part above the cap-band is white. The upper part and top of the officers' caps which was worn from 1903 is all white. The two men sitting on the ground are the Trumpet-Major with four inverted chevrons and crossed trumpet badge, and the bandmaster who had recently joined the regiment. He is Mr Titcombe, the leader of the Leamington Spa Prize Band that was brought into the Warwickshire Yeomanry in 1912.

Standing at the back are the most senior Warrant Officers, including the Regimental Sergeant-Major in the muddle, and the Quartermaster on his right hand. They have special tunics with silver braid instead of white cord. Their cap lines are not plaited like other mens'. There is a variation in the way the cap lines are worn; three of them have the plaited lines worn diagonally across the chest instead of looped on the right breast.
