The Bullant

Lieutenant Colonel Jack Antill from Picton, New South Wales was a career officer known as "Bullant ' partly because of his bullying ways. He was largely responsible for the ordering of the Australian Light Horse to attack at the Nek despite not having seen the conditions for himself and despite repeated requests from fellow soldiers to reconsider. They suffered a 60% casualty rate almost all of whom were cut down en masse just feet from their own trenches.
