The main figure in this painting is identifiable as Lieutenant-Colonel Piers Egerton-Warburton who commanded the regiment from 1891 to 1899. Behind him is the bearded Major the Earl of Harrington who, like the CO, wears field officers’ silver braiding on his sleeve. The date of this painting is not known but is probably mid 1890s. The officer in lancer uniform should help to date it but the Army Lists for the 1890s do not mention an adjutant from a regular lancer regiment for that period. It is interesting to note the small white busby bags. The NCO is the Trumpet-Major.
