Cape Town Highlanders

Cap Badge 1885

The first badge of the Cape Town Highlanders, worn on the glengarry, was described by Major John Scott, the first CO, in his journal: ‘Scottish Star, Thistle in centre and Cape Town Highlanders in Garter.’ By Scottish Star he meant the Star of the Order of the Thistle. It was a less than imaginative design and lasted until 1902 when it was replaced by a more distinctive badge.
