The Commanders

From left to right this picture shows Commodore Keyes (De Robeck's ADC), Vice-Admiral de Robeck, General Sir Ian Hamilton and Major-General Braithwaite (Hamilton's ADC) on board HMS Triad. Hamilton convinced de Robeck that a combined Army and Navy assault was more likely to succeed than merely continuing to press for a Naval forcing of the Straits. However, they differed on where to land, when to land and who to land!
