Seated, centre: Major Arthur Watson Pennington MVO, 9th Hodson’s Horse. He wears the British officer’s style uniform, blue with white facings and gold lace. He had been promoted to Major on 11 February 1906.
Seated, right: Risaldar Thakin Mal Singh, 26th Prince of Wales’s Own Light Cavalry, formerly the 1st Madras Lancers. His uniform is pale blue (French grey) with buff facings and silver lace.
Standing, left: Subadar Rohtan Singh, 13th Rajputs (The Shekhawati Regiment). He wears a scarlet tunic with dark blue facings and gold lace. He has an India Medal with three clasps.
Standing, right: Subadar Gopala IOM, 41st Dogras. The uniform is a scarlet tunic with yellow facings. His Indian Order of Merit decoration is the second from the left of his medals. He also has medals for the Afghan War of 1879, and the India Medal with two clasps.
