Forage Cap Badge c1860–80

Forage Cap Badge c1860–80

Officers and sergeant-majors wore this embroidered Royal Crest on the undress forage cap from some time in the 1850s to around 1880. The 25 was in gilding metal below the crown, but there are examples of the badge with numbers also being embroidered.

The photos are taken by kind permission from Badges and Insignia of The King’s Own Scottish Borderers by Hiram Dunn.
