Trumpeters in Undress c1895

The undress uniform worn by these two trumpeters consists of a plain blue stable jacket with red collar and yellow piped edges. The trousers are the same as the dress dismounted overalls with a red stripe down the side. They have crossed trumpet gold badges on the right sleeve only, backed by red cloth. Their swords are attached to white leather slings which come from a hidden webbing belt under the jacket. The method of holding the trumpet and bugle is interesting and stylish. For the coloured version of this uniform see the illustration painted by Alex Baker on this page.
