The Gallipoli Campaign

Burying Turkish Dead

Following the Turkish Assault on the ANZAC positions on the 19th of May, there occurred the first official truce between the two sides on May 24th. It was scrupulously honoured by both sides. It benefitted the Allies every bit as much as the Turks despite most casualties being Ottoman soldiers, as the defenders were wary of disease breaking out given their exposed positions.
