Washing, Gallipoli Style


Given the scarcity of water, cleaning in fresh water was a rare privilege indeed. Soldiers were reduced to having to bathe with the salt water of the Eastern Mediterranean - although it could be a trek down the hillsides at places so cleaning facilities had to be provided even when using the precious fresh water.
