| October saw fierce storms batter the exposed anchorages along the Straits. This picture shows a lighter breaking free and damaging Watson Pier which serviced Anzac Bay. As autumn gave way to winter, the conditions only worsened as temperatures plummeted and the weather became more volatile. |
