Allenby entering Jerusalem

The capture of Jerusalem by British, Indian and Australian forces was one of the major imperial events of The Great War. Allenby managed to fool the Turkish with a diversionary attack on Gaza. The Turks committed their reserves to this battle, only for general Allenby to break through the weakened Turkish centre. Jaffa and then Jerusalem were quick to fall to the British and Imperial forces. Newsreel of this event was rushed all over the empire and the world.
