A Splendid Little Colony: British Singapore 1819 - 1963

Straits Commercial College

The Straits Commercial College, located in Geylang, celebrating the Silver Jubilee of King George V, in 1935. The banner on the right gives the name of the college, and the one on the left sounds the cheer – “Long Live the King and Queen.” The joy of the occasion is somewhat undermined by the rather stiff (and reluctant?) postures of the students and adults here.
