The Yeomanry

Officer's Undress Caps c1902

The field service cap worn since 1897 is blue and white with silver braid along the edges. This example, from the regimental museum, has the bear and ragged staff badge introduced c1901 to replace the embroidered WYC badge. The pill-box caps have silver lace cap-bands of oak-leaf design, a knitted purl button on top, and no braid figuring. These caps were superceded by the peaked forage cap in 1903 but the field service cap may well have continued to be used on some occasions.
