The Regiment was posted to Berlin from February 1987 to February 1989. This was the third and final tour of duty in Berlin, a popular posting for the Jocks.
The 1st Battalion The King’s Own Scottish Borderers troop their Colours past Queen Elizabeth. The officers and men are in no.2 dress and are armed with the SLR 7.62mm, with bayonets fixed. Both the Queen’s Colour and the Regimental Colour are carried by ensigns, young 2nd lieutenants. Between them is a WO2 armed with a rifle. Behind them is the RSM who has a leather Sam Browne belt instead of the white plastic belts worn by all ranks lower than himself. He is armed with a sword and carries a pace-stick. He is flanked by two Colour Sergeants armed with rifles and bayonets.
The regiment march in company formation and are ordered “Eyes Right!” as they march past Her Majesty. The men of the Colour Party are exempt from this order.
